Random Stuff: The Trophy

A random conversation on a random night...

.

Random Friend says:

Random Friend : says:

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:

Random Friend : says:
No la!

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
erm lidat loz~ ppl are superficial smtimes~ but such a relationship probably won't last long

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
like to use each other as though as he/she is a trophy

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
demeaning to the self and to the other i feel

Random Friend. says:
wah so many comments?

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
lool u ask for comments maz

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
so i give my one-cent-view loz

Random Friend. says:
ok noted. shall pass ur comments forward

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
looool y lehz? ur fren involved in one mehz?

Random Friend. says:

Random Friend. says:

Random Friend. says:

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:

Random Friend. says:
ya would u get into such a relationship if u are proposed with one?

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
prolly nt arghz~ depend loz might evolve into a real one

[Ron] - Zheng Guang | says:
u nv noe

.

Anyway, I've never really used the term, 'trophy relationship', before; must had picked it up in some movie or drama. Lol.

My view is that such a relationship seems pretty pointless because so much upkeep is required. A trophy needs to be polished and that is not one easy job. And such a relationship achieves nothing? Isn't it so?

.

But come to think of it, if some pretty girl approach me and ask me how? =O... Come to think of it, such a scenario probably won't present itself. I won't have to worry. =) Lol.

What A Game!

Although I don't really watch soccer much these days, I know a good game when I see one. And boy, what a game the Man Utd - Chelsea match was. (I was out with my friends at balcony bar to catch it.)

Some background info; there are only 3 games left to the end of the season and Man Utd is leading Chelsea by only 3 points albeit with goal advantage too. To sum it up, Chelsea needs to win in order to stand any chance of winning the title. And possibly by the time you see this post, you would probably have know the score; 2-1 with Chelsea winning.

The match continued to be fast and furious in the second until Carvalho gifted United's Rooney a goal with an errant pass. That kind of error that might get you killed by the Mafias that had their bets on them. The one big collective groan from the crowd at the bar was pretty hilarious too.

Anyway, if you watched the match, you would had known that the Man Utd fans were all joyous until the referee decided to take over the match towards the end by giving Chelsea an penalty because of a (unintentional?) handball by Carrick. I of course took the chance to make the joke that Roman Am????? paid the ref off. Couldn't help it.

For those who didn't watch the match, the fact that there were 2 on-the-line clearances before Chelsea K.O Man Utd with the penalty must tell you that the match was pretty exciting. 2 on-the-line clearances?! You should had seen the crowd at the bar. Lol. Totally interesting.

The Sub-Plots

To be honest, me being not so much of a soccer guy these days... the subplots actually intrigue me more than the match itself. And this one had many of them.

Rugby Match : Seriously, doesn't the headgear Peter Cech don makes u crack up? If I just tuned in to a channel and saw him on that green pitch, I would probably mistaken it for rugby/football. Well at least, the next time he brings someone down, he has an excuse. Lol.

.

I just saved my job!: My friend, Lester, couldn't helped cracking the Avram Grant I Just Saved My Job joke. And judging from the picture... hmm... he might just be correct.

.

Who is the better Diver?: Drogba or Ronaldo? In the past, I would had said Ronaldo without a doubt. But from what I've seen and heard, Ronaldo seems to be diving lesser and is currently at a stage whereby he is suffering from his past actions. Referees are making decisions while accounting into the fact that he is a diver. Anyway, my friend says Drogba looks as though as he was shot in the back every time he dives. And he dived at least 2 good times in the match. Lolol. I hope this doesn't invade basketball.

.

Other interesting subplots:: Vidic getting a Muay-Thai knee to his mouth by Drogba causing him to bleed and get carried off by the casket look-alike stretcher. Ronaldo not being able to assert his will on the game. Van Der Sar barely escaping a kick from Ashley Cole which would had probably rendered him the same rugby player Peter Cech is now.

.

Anyway, I would like to talk more. But the booze is kicking in and the entry is getting a bit long. For the greater good of soccer and the sanity of us all, I hope that we see more soccer matches like this in the future. Lol.

Welcome to SG

Well, I have a friend who was from Malaysia. When he just came over to Singapore, he had a bit of a culture shock.

He was running at the park area near his house. It was a pretty normal jog till he saw this new neighbor of his that he spotted the previous day. Oblivious to the culture in Singapore, he actually waved to the neighbor as his way of saying good morning just like what he would had done back in Malaysia.

Well, the neighbor's reaction was pretty comical. He had this stunned look and his first reaction was to actually look behind him, then look beside him, then only to realize that he was the person my friend was waving at.

By the time he actually realized that, they had actually jogged past each other. And I must say that's a great way of saying "Welcome to Singapore." Lol.

.
.
.

*Anyway, thanks for those who wished for my speedy recovery. It helped I guess. Now feeling slightly better. Not dying. Yet. Lol.

Sick Again?

I'm running a fever, having stomachaches, feeling forever thirsty. And all these stuff just came without warning yesterday night. I though I have been taking decent care of my body these days. But it's apparently not. It started off with my body heating up quite a bit while I was using the com last night. Well, I thought I could sleep it away and I tried to do so only to find myself burning up even more the next morning.

I had brunch and continued to sleep throughout the day. Feeling slightly better now, but still ain't that great. I hate being sick. I guess everyone does. But I guess that's part of life. The last time I was sick was 6 months ago. I hope my body don't fall sick for the next few years or so. Haha.

Ailing Body (Sort of)

You know your body ain't what it used to be when you go out to play 3 hours of badminton and end up getting assaulted by a variety of attacks, ranging from cramps in the calf and ache in the back.

It just makes the time when I once used to run 10:23 for my 2.4 km so long ago. (Anyway, 10:23 is seriously not that good. I have a friend who can do 7++) I don't even really dare to go hit the track for a 2.4 km run these days. I'm scared that when I see the result I might just faint. Lolol.

And I definitely will be expecting more aches and cramps when I wake up tomorrow. O_O"""

KFC Cruelty?

I couldn't take KFC for 2 months after watching this video. Lolol.

The only qualm I have about this is that is Pamela Anderson really the ideal ambassador for such an activity? It's kind of like getting Paris Hilton to star in a anti-drink driving ad. Okay, maybe not that bad.

.

Tibet? What is the Truth?

(kudos to Keith)

Seriously, this is getting me all confused. Just what is the truth behind Tibet? Are China Authorities really stamping out protests in Tibet by total violence? Or are they forced to? How about the Western Media? Are they really 'free press' as they claim to be?

Raster Boy

I don't really find any purpose for this strange program that creates a boy of your choice; clothes, accessories, etc. But I can't help but feel that females will love this program. Just a hunch. Anyway, yeah, from a Flash Developer's standpoint, this program is kickass.

Simpsons deemed unsuitable for children

The Simpsons has been dropped from morning TV in Venezuela after being deemed unsuitable for children - and has been replaced by Baywatch. Seriously? You mean Baywatch is more suitable for children? Hmm... -_-" (Kudos to I can't remember who -_-")

Survivor Series: MLM

You know something is evil when you have a website totally dedicated to stating how evil it is. Okay, I'm biased against Multi Level Marketing. Lol. Speaking of such websites, anyone remember WOW DETOX?

Racial bias? Maybe not. Maybe it's true

Erm, first of all, I would like to state that I kind of wanted to blog on this just because of the amount of times I see how one can get heckled if he tries to mention anything about race, be it a justified one or not. And it's kind of strangely pervasive throughout the country. At least that's what I think.

From young we have been taught in school to respect one another's race or religion. Personally, I think that's a great thing considering how severe/deadly racial riots were back in the 1960s. However, I thought the method might had been a bit off. Well, no one stated it explicitly, but it feels to me like we are cultivated to avoid racial problems by avoiding talking anything involving race at all. I wouldn't say it's totally no good but avoiding the topic totally might bring some serious deficiencies in the run, wouldn't it?

For example, not being to identify and eradicate problems pertaining to certain ethnics group while they are still in their infancy stages. Recently, some of PM Lee's words about families who lived beyond means got onto the news. According to the article, he said:

"While families who live beyond their means come from all races, quite a few are Malay families"

"It is a sensitive matter to raise, but all MPs and social workers know that it is a real issue that needs to be tackled"

First of all, I must really give him kudos for having the courage to raise up such a sensitive issue. Though of course, one can argue that is because of the amount of governance stability we have (read... o_O). But either way, why is it till now that only someone points out that there are such troubles? I'm pretty sure that the problem has been here for sometime, hasn't it?

When Courts recently ran a commercial of this guy at the back of his car loading purchases into his boot while talking about how cheap and good the installments are, it didn't surprised me at all that he was a Malay.

I don't know if one can blame Courts for employing such a marketing move. But from a marketer's point of view, you would definitely want to target your main consumer group right? There just seems to me like there are so many facts about racial groups that go uncovered despite being true.

.

Let's try this...

1. Which ethnic group/race/religion has the most amount of bespectacled kids?
2. Which ethnic group/race/religion has the highest amount of civil offenses rate?
3. Which ethnic group/race/religion gets the most amount of unfriendly looks because of the smell they wear?
4. Which ethnic group/race/religion likes to gamble the most?
5. Which ethnic group/race/religion has the most rowdy teenagers?

.

I am not trying to (in the spirit of army) stir shit here, it's just like there are so many facts that go underground and uncovered just because they are sensitive. But no matter how sensitive it is, the nation has to face it one day, isn't it?

Is a first class nation one that refuses to admit these honest facts of differences or one that recognizes these symptoms early and treats them accordingly?

.
.
.

Found this alternative bias thing funny. Lol.

OLD

You know you are getting old when you actually feel tired after just these few events; waking up at 1130am after 9 hours of sleep, spending a few hours on the computer, leaving your house to meet friends for dinner, having dinner and chit chatting, having coffee and chit chatting again, followed by an 1 hour bus journey home... only to discover yourself feeling half-awake and managing only to squeeze out such an entry.

Is age catching up with me? I hope not. Yawwwwwwwnzzzz.

Anyway, one of my only few readers, Mr E has been complaining that my entries are getting more boring. So I'll commit myself here by saying that I come up with something more interesting for the next one... say... Justified Racial Bias? Or is it still boring? O_O"

ZZZzzzzzzzz monster is catching me. And my bed is calling out to me. Gotta go.

Facebook Dangers?

Darn I'm dumb. Perhaps. I got a friend request from some random person and I actually accepted it with the thought that I could accept first then investigate later. Well, I did accept the invitation and I immediately investigated upon the person's Facebook profile only to realize that I'm the only person on the friend list.

Smells like a possible hacker. Or am I too paranoid? If one could hack another person's account just by being friends, then I could hack all of those on my friends list.

Anyway, I just thought it didn't feel right. After investigating a bit, I'm sure I don't know the person. I've deleted the person as a friend and I will monitor my Facebook account to see if anything funny happens. I hope not O_O"

Observer

Well, I had work today so I was taking the train as per usual from Punggol to Dhoby Ghaut. And all was as usual today on the train; the usual people-squeeze, the usual heat (generated by the amount of people), the usual ethics.

Everything was pretty pretty usual till a Caucasian lady passed out. (Yes, literally fainted). All I heard was a loud thud behind me and the first thing I realized when I turned around was that this lady had apparently fainted/lost conscious and had hit the floor.

Well... what was the first thing that came to my mind? She was actually quite a bit of distance from me, so the thought of helping her didn't came to me. Instead, I just stood there and observed how the people around her reacted. And before you lambaste me, isn't sometimes doing less equating to doing more? Rushing over to crowd around her just to kaypo would not help any bit and would just deprived her of air she needed.

There were a few aunties around her if I remember correctly. An Indian and 2 Chinese if my memory serves me correct. Anyway, there were 2 things that struck me the most;

(1) The aunties collectively gave a very loud and shocked gasp/moan crossover 'Oh!'. Well, that surprised me because the rest of the people (including me) were seemingly calm, which made me think about if the aunties were over-reacting or the rest under-reacting. On a personal basis, someone fainting just don't shock me that much anymore somehow. I've seen people faint in the army before (usually from running) and I have a near-faint-experience before so it was really nothing to me, except about how to ensure the lady would be safe (by either doing something or doing nothing). Anyway, fainting is no fun experience I assure you. Lol.

(2) How helpful and how efficient the aunties were. The Indian auntie whipped out a water bottle, the Chinese auntie got her medicated oil (Feng You) out, while the rest of the aunties were shouting for someone to help inform the SMRT staff through the comms.

Anyway, a kind man beside the comms informed the SMRT staff and when we reached the next stop which was Boon Keng, the staff boarded the train and bought that lady out of the train and supposedly to the nearest hospital, KK hospital. After which, the train continued to be at the stop for 5 minutes before we moved off again. I would normally be slightly pissed if I didn't know the reason. Wouldn't you be? Maybe they should announce the reasons when trains are delayed, etc. Maybe not.

.
.
.

I did mention something about near-faint-experience above right? For those who have not experience fainting nor near-faint, fainting for me was like quite similar to what is usually described. It's losing your energy, then feeling the lack of oxygen, before the blackout comes. It's no fun, seriously.

Hillary Clinton lies through her teeth? (Kudos to Karebu)

Barely Political: Why do US Politics have spin-off sites and Singapore has none?

Chinese You-Tube: If you need to find Chinese videos and you can't find it on YouTube, hit Youku.

No Skittles?: There will definitely be ways for them to get their hands on candy. Instead of stopping them from getting candy, why not attempt to inculcate into them why candy is bad?

British Isles Terminalogy: Ah, yes, I think most of us know that the terms U.K, Great Britain, England are different. But how different? Lol. Can't they make these stuff easier?

GKS: Wah, this is super duper nice art loz. I wish I had the drawing talent. Cos one would probably need to know how to draw, color and then photoshop a bit here and there. I seriously lacking on the drawing part.

Billy 176915

Wth? The site that me and Keith created for Billy Wang is at a total of 176915 hits?! I'm stunned. Time really flies I guess. Back a few months ago it was only at 5000 or so I think. Oh well, but the counter system is flawed anyway, i was the one who created it. Not a perfect way to track but a decent indicator still.

Though I seriously feel very fine that at least the site I created have that many users looking at it. Whether they like the design or not is another thing, but at the least there's people looking @ it.

I'm touched. Lololololol.

My Top 10 Songs

I was actually having this conversation with some of my friends about songs and our personal favorites. Then this idea came to mind... what if you only had 60 seconds to name your top 10 favorite songs? What songs would you come up with? I wanted it be this short because the songs that probably come to your mind would be the songs you love the most.

Here is my list in no significant order...

(Well, I started thinking and thinking then I decided to only let in 1 song per singer. There are just too many great songs come to think of it.)

Ron's Favorite 10

1. 王力宏 - 唯一
2. 周杰伦 - 你听得到
3. 吴克群 - 残废
4. 李圣杰 - 手放开
5. 蔡依林 - 倒带
6. Lupe Fiasco - Touch the Sky Feat. Kanye West
7. U2 - With or Without You
8. Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All
9. BBMak - Ghost of You & Me
10. LFO - Girl on TV

Honorable mentions

王力宏 - Kiss Goodbye
周杰倫 - 不能说的秘密
吴克群 - 我有罪
卓文萱 - 读心术
曹格 - 背叛
蔡依琳 - 假装
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc
U2 - Beautiful Day
Elton John - Can You Feel The Love Tonight
Joey Mcintyre - Stay the Same

.

And yeapz, I did took more than 1 minute. And the 50/50 English Chinese songs thing is deliberate. Still, overall I feel pretty okay with the list. Though it makes me feel a bit old though O_O"

Ah, if anyone makes a list of their own, let me know... so I can link it up. And yeapz, I'm generally a C-Pop, E-Pop junkie. Lol
