2) Ninja/Break Dance/Crazy People: Yeah, it's all in one. Go have a look. Forward to 2:15. I've always heard that it's possible but to see it is totally amazing. How can you frigging hold on to a pole with your body horizontal with only 2 arms?! -_-"

The Overdue Post

This post is named the overdue post because it's overdue. overdue. overdue. honeydew. mountaindew. morningdew. =x *Grrrrrrrrrr

Anyway, the last post was about me being forced to go to SE (Sony Ericsson) service center to get my phone repaired. So I actually went to the one at Wisma @ Orchard the following day. I was actually somehow hoping that I could get to witness some of the infamous customer service. And unluckily for me, I actually experienced it first-hand.

As per normal, I got my queue slip, grabbed a sit and started the wait. Number 395, Counter 5. Okay, my turn. I got up, went to the counter and was pleasantly surprised when I saw quite a cutesy girl at the other end. That was till...

Me: "My phone can't charge." *Passes Charger/Phone to her*. "I suspect that it's because my charger is spoiled.
Girl: "Okay, I will try to charge it with another charger." *Goes to charge the phone

*Girl Returns

Girl: "There is a red light on the phone when I use the charger here. However, I can't seem to turn on the phone. Why don't you leave your phone here with the technicians here. We will call you"

Me: *Stunned. "Hmm... so what is wrong? The phone? The charger? But if there's a red light, that means the phone is charging right? When I use my charger, there's no red light."

Girl: *Stunned. "Mister, that might be correct. Let me try turning on the phone with a charged battery"

*Girl tries. And the phone worked -_-"

Girl: "Oh, I think it is a charger problem in that case. Please proceed to the collection counter to purchase a charger."

Me: *Pengz. *Stunned. *Felt slightly disgusted too.

.

Anyway, I went over to the collection counter. Got them to try the new charger on my phone for me. It worked. Anyway...

Why did it seemed like I knew more than the customer service personnel?! -_-"""" *pengz.

Aren't they supposed to be trained in diagnosing all these minor problems too? =( If I had simply listened to her and put my phone with them, I would had incurred $10 worth of diagnosis cost and most importantly, I would be stucked with my archaic backup phone for 5 days =(

.

*This event has just reduced my want to get a Sony Ericsson P1i for my next phone. Lol. -_-"

Oh well, at least the girl was cute. =x

(Original Date/Time of Post: 24th Feb 08 240am)

I want to go online. I want to go online. I have got something to say. I have got something to day. Crapz, I'm typing this out on Notepad. For some reason, my Starhub connection refuses to work. It seems that my wireless adapter is perfectly well connected to the router. But I can't get onto the net. =(((((((((

Maybe it's a sign from the heavens that I should be sleeping early tonight. I hope I don't meet this problem again tomorrow morning, else I will have to Starhub up to enquire; which is troublesome I feel.

[For English: Press 1, For Chinese: Press 2...]
[For Business Services: Press 1, For Broadband: Press 2...]
[For XXX: Press 1, For XXX: Press 2...]
[And so it carries on]

I hate the answering machine or whatever you call that. Lol

.
.
.

Fast forward to now...

My Sony Ericsson Phone won't charge, My Sony Ericsson Phone won't charge, My Sony Ericsson Phone won't charge, My Sony Ericsson Phone won't charge, My Sony Ericsson Phone won't charge.

Coincidentally, I have had this problem before, though not with this phone but a very old one. T100? I think so.

The good/bad old days:

The same problem happened back then, though i was able to solve it/delay the death of the phone by pushing in the head of the charger(how do you explain that?) at a slightly slanted position. But the problem is... it's not working for this phone.

Is this it? Is it a sign from the heavens that it's high time to change a phone? Or hit the service center? (which i hate to)

.
.
.

FAAAAAAAAAAIL.

(Latest Update: I think I really need to drop by SE's service center tml =( )

Decision Making - L.O.P (Lack of Passion)

Just some food for thought...

.
.
.

Erm I was out at Serangoon Gardens Macdonald like 5 hours ago to (1) Save myself from the boredom of being stuck in home, (2) Read the book, 'Witness to Wall Street' before it goes overdue (NLB) and (3) Decide whether to accept this offer to act as a web consultant to the completed BillyWang31 website till the end of the year.

I was sitting there, munching away at my Grilled Chicken Foldover when this episode of National Geographic on the big LCD Screen every McDonalds has these days caught my eye. It was about this young kid (approx. 5 years old) and his love for playing the piano. I know, a kid in love with playing a piano sounds like very normal stuff. But at least I thought it was pretty special.

The video documented how this kid expressed his passion for playing the piano. The kid would listen to piano pieces till he fell asleep, the kid would wake up in the middle of the night just because he wanted to complete learning a certain piano piece. But what really caught me was the passion in the boy's eyes when he talked about playing the piano. It's really simple yet surreal stuff; if that makes sense at all.

Then the video ends off showing the boy performing at some kind of concert thing. I couldn't hear clearly what it exactly was because oh well it's MacDonalds and there were a lot of people in there and also a lot of noise.

.

I thought about the video a bit after it ended. And I realized that I haven't really been passionate about something for a long time. I'm still not sure about this but I thought 'The You Know What' of 2 Years had something to do with this.

Imagine being thrown into a place whereby be it that you perform well or not, you will 'graduate' from that place without any complications. How does that sound for motivation?

And then I thought about the offer of being web consultant for that website. It's generally pretty neat money for the work involved. But I think I am going to decide against it because (1) We had unhappy times working with the people there, (2) Their plan for the website sounds fundamentally flawed to me and most importantly, (3) The L.O.P factor.

The L.O.P factor? Yeah. Working for the project has seemingly dwindled my passion for web design and such amazingly. I can't really pinpoint out why but I think there have tell-tale signs; like... (1) Procrastinating. I been procrastinating to complete any work possibly because the changes are often reverted. That acts as a great 'motivator'. (2) Long Sleeping Hours - I have actually been clocking 10-11 hours of sleep time almost everyday these days. I think it has something to do with it. (3) Being always in a slightly Nasty mood.

But it's a great opportunity for me... But the L.O.P factor is pulling me away from it... But... But...

.
.
.

All in all, if you find the above post confusing, it's normal.

Sentosa Flower Festival '08

Well, I went to Sentosa with 3 friends yesterday (Sat) for the Flower Festival 08 thingy,1 of them of which we amazingly bumped into coincidentally and since he was heading to the same place, we joined up.

Those are the 3 guys.

Anyway, we took the monorail in for 3 bucks, which was pretty much fun as ever. For those who have always taken the buses in, you need to try it. You can take it from VivoCity 3rd floor.

Oh well, after reaching our destination, it was pretty much snapping time.

Though I am an amateurish photographer, I was surprised that I could actually come up with passable photos while armed with an archaic 4 Megapixels Kodak Camera that I borrowed from my sister. 4?! Gosh, even my friend's K850i cellphone is a megapixel stronger than mine.

Though you can argue I have the advantage with zoom, flash, stability, etc. And the fact that my sister actually has a pretty new Olympus Camera but cannot be used (memory card not brought yet) made me even more bitter.

Anyway, you can catch the full photo album on my facebook photo albums @ here

After we were finished with our snapping session, we went off to the beaches to have a walk. And it was ever fun as ever to be at the beach. Just walking around enjoying the sun and the sea breeze, watching people duke it out at beach volleyball, trying to spot beautiful bikini babes, getting my feet wet in the sea. It's actually not bad once in a while.

(And no, I do not have any pictures of bikini babes or whatever to show here =( )

After which, we went back to Breeks @ Harborfront Center and we called it a day.

[Sentosa, anyone?]

In case you missed it, here's the Wikipedia link to the Edison Chen photo scandal. Yes, the one about Edison, Cecilia Chung, Gileen (from Twins). The Hong Kong Celebrities thing. The interesting links are actually all the bottom; the references part.

(P.S. Just a thought, but who is going to cover his acting duties in the sequel to Initial D, if they have plans for that? And I'm expecting a lot of jokes to come up when I watch Batman: The Dark Knight). -_-")

.

Dicklee.com: I didn't realized that Dick Lee had a website till my friend, Ethan, told me. Oh well, even Billy Wang has a website; so what can I say? (And he easily garnered a few thousands hit on the counter that I put up. =p)

Pioneer Magazine; Cut Waste: Because I could never get through to the line of Pioneer Magazine to cancel my 'optional' subscription to them, I turned to the Internet for help. Save the Earth; no Pioneer magazines please. Anyway, for females and those not in the Army yet, Pioneer Magazine is a magazine that is pretty much a fusion of normal lifestyle magazines and military stuff. Queer combination and pretty much an unpopular one too.

RP Tio Owned: A 92 page thread in hardwarezone that started off with some random fellow posting up cut off admission points for the various polytechnics. I thought what really sparked the 92 page craze was when this fellow said:

" RP is for loser leh, the PBL format is a joke. I have a few RPs graduate in my office. They simply underperformed... My HR even mentioned to the director tat they wont look @ RP's graduate again..."

Hmm... I've got a friend that graduated from RP. So I better not comment on this. Haha. Anyway, RP = Republic Poly. Everyone knows that right? o_O"

Taiwan Celebrities criticize Singapore English

This one really caught a lot of heat. Was on the papers too I heard. Strangely, I'm really not angry nor provoked by the video at all. I think simply because it's pretty obvious that the standard of English in Singapore no matter how 'not powderful', is still waaaaaay better then that of Taiwan? I mean... is there even anyway to argue otherwise so?

Flowers @ Sentosa: I'm considering whether to try to catch it before it ends. Though the thought of going there on Valentine's Day Week makes me cringe. I'm expecting tons of couple to flood the place. Noooooooooo....

February 13, 2008 at 12:20:00 AM

Vday == Dday

Hahaz. Omg, Valentine's Day is like 2 days away? Though it really doesn't affect me. Hmm... or maybe it does. Haha. Seeing all my friends preparing up for Valentine's Day is really interesting stuff.

I'm not going to point out names here; I'm not that evil ^_^". One fellow brought origami paper/foam and metallic wires to actually do out flowers for his Valentine. I've got to give him credit there. He's busy studying for his university exams and yet he finds time to do out these flowers for the girl (not his girlfriend yet). *Salutez.

Then there is another fellow (if i remember correctly) who is going to buy a bikini (O_O") for his girlfriend and then bring her to a chalet on Sentosa and simply enjoy the sun, the sand and the sea. Simple and good plan I say. But what if it rains? And from what I know, he's having a bit of trouble with the bikini purchasing part. Haha. A guy going into the bikini shop is like O_O"

Anyway, well it's pretty much like Dday for me rather. Just a time for me to watch all these cuddling couples and wonder.. "Hey, maybe I should actively go seek a girlfriend". But then, the Chinese have an age-old adage, "爱情可望不可求". Looool. To singlehood =)

Better England Pls

Although my England isn't really that powderful, I just realized 一山还有一山高.. -_-"""

I was dealing with this point of contact (Malaysian Chinese) for this client just now (Yes, on the 3rd day of CNY which happens to be also a Saturday) and I got him to mail me the changes he needed for some website. I can't show the whole email because I (*hope) am a professional. But below is an excerpt of the email that got my laughing for like a minute:

"Please assist to change the follows: "

"Thank you for your support & Once again wish you & Kiev a Happy Chinese New Year."

Kiev?! Who is that? Some alien? Martian? Only after I gave it some thought, I realized it's actually Keith (my partner in crime)... -_-". Because he is a Malaysian Chinese, I kind of attuned myself to their kind of English whenever I read his emails. But Kiev???? Lol. It got me laughing for quite a while.

And it's like not the first time already. I remember the other time, this fellow (also a Malaysian Chinese) called Keith erm... Kevth. O_O"

And according to my attuned senses, it seems that the first sentence meant 'Please assist to change the following:"

.

I'm not really against that Malaysian Chinese nor trying to prove that I'm superior or what against him. Because if we communicated in Chinese via email, I think the person probably laughing his ass off would be him.

But sometimes I really do get very tired looking at his English and I don't know how to tell him about it. And anyway, hasn't English been the dictated trade language for like centuries? No?

Hmm... if everyone speaks the 'same' English, wouldn't the world be a better place? It's like if everyone programmed in one language; perhaps C#... just throw away Java and VBScript. Oh well...

...wanders off...

Kungfu Dunk

Ok, at least I caught one of the movies that I want to catch today. Kungfu Dunk. The movies I want to catch?; Sweeney Todd, CJ7, Ah Long Pte Ltd and Kungfu Dunk. So that's 1 down and 3 to go.

Has anyone caught that Ah Long Pte Ltd yet? Is it really that bad? A lot of people dissuaded me on that, saying it's a really sucky show and that Straits Times has it rated 1/5. o_O" 1/5, I think that's not a easy score to get (in a negative manner). But the trailer seems rather interesting lehz. Just thinking of the part about Mark Lee bringing on the Malaysian Chinese slang makes me want to laugh. Hmm...

Anyway, speaking of Kungfu Dunk, here's a synopsis of sorts from Wikipedia before I comment on it.

.
.
.

"The film revolves around an orphaned boy who grew up in a kung fu university and becomes a talented basketball player.[2] The youngster, Shi-Jie (by Jay Chou) grew up at The Kung-Fu School. He practiced excellent Kung-Fu and was equipped with a good sense of feel. Unexpectedly, he showed his marvellous skills of slam-dunk. Therefore, he was selected by Wang-Li who had wicked ideas and made his living in the streets. On the excuse of helping him search for his family, Wang-Li invited him to play basketball at the first university. However, he would like to make use of him to make money.

After joining the basketball team, Shi-Jie found that Li-Li whom he admired for a long time is the sister of Ting-Wei (by Bo-Lin Chen) the leader of basketball team. Shi Jie was desperate to draw her attention. Therefore, he attempted to compete with Xiao-Lan (By Baron Chen), who is Li-Li's idol, which made the basketball team lapse into an unstable atmosphere. During the process, the conflicts between each other had been sorted out after the counsel of Ting-Tei. Meanwhile, he helped Shi-Jie combine the foundation of Kung-Fu into the basketball skills, which brought his skills into full play and helped team go through the critical competitions.

At this time, the major competitor faced by Shi-Jie and his team members was the team led by Lee Tien, the previous fighting brother of Ting Wei. The team was constituted by a group of horrible men who were withstood to join any basketball games in the United States. They also bribed the referees, which made the basketball team of the first university become the living targets and face the situation of crushing defeat. When the situation was in danger, Wang-Li made great efforts to persuade four grand masters with excellent martial arts to take up a challenge at the last moment.

How did Shi-Jie reverse the situation and lead the team to create a miracle? Will he find his family? Who would be his lover at the end?"

.
.
.

Anyway, it was generally a pretty light movie. Not for those looking for depth, conspiracy theories and stuff of that kind. Bourne Series, Letters from Iwo Jima, Pan's Labyrinth... no, not that kind. It's more for those people who like fighting action, CG, flashy stuff, simple plot kindda thing.

The acting from Jay I think was pretty good. I'm no movie critic but I think that his acting is really not bad. The plot was a bit undeveloped and spoiled by a lot of flashbacks stuff (watch the movie and you will know). The music was great I thought. Anytime Jay Chou gets involved in the music part, it's usually good stuff. Add the still passable fighting action to it and I think the movie is maybe like a 3/5. Maybe, oh well.

.
.
.

Just to end off the post, if you didn't caught it on the news, I've got to tell you that our beloved (kinda) Ah Meng died. Remember the 'Breakfast with an Orang Utan' programme? Yeah, that's the Ah Meng. Kudos to Ah Meng, RIP =)

Boring CNY

CNY == Eat, Fat, Eat More, Fat More.

Just a thought, but how do all those attached females actually refrain from over-eating? They need to, right? Valentine's is like just 6 days away. Lol. Nah, just a thought.

Meanwhile, CNY has been really boring for me so far, not that it has been interesting before. All the shops are closed and the only enticing part are the ang baos and meeting up with relatives; though I'm not a very big fan of the latter. And whenever you thought of something you want to get, you need to consider whether the shop is open. Hmm... that's not really fun.

The only few places that seem to get more interesting come CNY are I think... the Cinemas, Pubs and Clubs.

Oh well, but it's all ending soon. Kindda.

BOB: Barrage of Bookmarks

It seems like I have a never ending storage of bookmarks. o_O"

Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls (Remember Michael Jordan?) in a 1991 Sandwich Commercial. Makes me laugh a bit at how queer the commercials back then were and how we actually could accept them back then.

Gruesome Bug Fights (Kudos to Bing Zhao). I don't know why but Japanese really have a taste for exotic strange activities?

Have you heard of Xiao Xiao the stickman animation before? Here is the program that the creator actually use to create all that stick animation. I tried my hand a it. Very tedious.

.

.

Oh, speaking of animation, I did an animation introduction for HSBC Insurance, which ended up being quite an experience. I think it was like a month ago or what when my friend (Wayne) got me this lobang. They had an event whereby they wanted some animation but they needed it within a week. And I actually took it up and barely made it through on the deadline to come up with a (perhaps) screwed up animation. But oh well, time restraints... You will probably see a screenshot or two of it on www.mitworkz.com soon when I have time to upload it.

And here's one of the animation tutorials I took reference from. Great tutorial but my product didn't turned out to be like theirs sad to say. haha.

Life: Masks

Ron is thinking... life is like a stage play or act with many different masks that one changes on as with needs. Oh no, I do not spend that much time on philosophical thinking, just that when I was in the toilet just now (-_-"),

I was reminiscing about the days of schooling and such. Then I remember something about being forced to some Art Exhibition Gallery around City Hall area. I think that was back in poly or sometime there. Well, when we reached there, there was a painting (crap, I should had taken down the photo then) that particularly caught my attention. I think the title was 'Life of Masks' or something like that.

It was a picture of this being (man or woman?) opening up a closet only to reveal to us that the closet does not contain clothes but masks. It's just like real life if you think about it. Unknowingly or knowingly, we put on different sets of behaviors (masks) each day in different situations, presumably to attain the most optimal results. Examples; a serious face at work, a mischievous face at a club, a stern face as a parent (no I haven't experienced this one -_-").

But sometimes, I wonder if this kind of behavior are really good for human beings in the run. Of course, one may argue that it is inevitable and that it is part of competition too. For example, putting up a stern front at work would probably put one in better stead for promotion in most situations if one was usually a jolly, easy-going, happy-go-lucky fellow usually.

But wouldn't that to a certain extent, be pretense? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't like to be in the company of people who put a false front because they usually turn out to be the people who 'backstabs'

.
.
.

And if the above don't really make sense to you, just ignore it. Ron sometimes can come up with really strange, queer philosophical stuff.

Relieved

I finally get to rest a bit now that this http://www.billywang31.com/ up. I personally wouldn't say it's great. In fact, I don't really have much love for it's design. But either way, client's demands are client's demands, so oh well.

I do feel a bit of satisfaction in a way. It took us one month plus of turmoil, many late nights and even one night on which we caught no sleep to get the site up. So I do feel happy in a way; just that it's rather sad that it's of a more "Hey, we are finally done with this ****" instead of a "OMG, I can't believe we did such a great site" thing. =(

Anyway, I will probably be on 'Online' MSN status more often since I'm kind of done with it except some small details.

.
.
.

I have also added up a few more blogs of friends (Alex, Bing Zhao, Lebbeus, Kat Tat) at the links area. Lebbeus's (a classmate of mine back in Ngee Ann Poly) website is reeeally cool. He got his own domain name, www.lebbeuslau.com, for that and he even has songs uploaded there for people to listen. Really cool. He was one of the top students back in my Business Info Tech course in Ngee Ann so I wasn't really surprised he could whip this up. =)

.
.
.

Before I end this post and rush out to meet some of my Army friends for one of my friend's pre-ORD celebration, here are some interesting links as usual...

Darwin Awards: According to the site... [Named in honor of Charles Darwin, the father of evolution, the Darwin Awards commemorate those who improve our gene pool by removing themselves from it.] Sounds interesting? (Kudos to Bing Zhao)

A panorama of Singapore. Not very well combined together though.

WOW can (almost) kill

Stomach Flu: This was the website that got me through my stomach flu. Yes, those sports drinks do make one feel a lot better when you're losing so much fluids at such an alarming rate.

.
.
.
.
.

Okay, that's all for now. Wishing everyone a Happy CNY here =)
